We’ve all heard the expression, “It’s better to give than to receive,” and we probably all agree with it.  I recently heard another expression about giving:

“You can’t give more than you receive.”

I’ve had some time to ponder this to decide if I really believe it or not, and I think I do.  Here’s one example from my life of when it seemed true:

I’ve invested a lot of time, money and passion in our local Boys & Girls Club.  I’ve done things I never thought I would do because it would be so uncomfortable.  In making these sacrifices, I’ve found that I’ve received so much joy in return.  I have learned and grown so much.  I could have spent more time, money and passion on college courses and came away with less.

What do you think?  Can you give more than you receive?  Why not give it a try over the next day and see what happens.
