Pick One and “Live It” Today

by General Caregiving, Practical Guidance1 comment

Today’s wisdom comes from Andy Rooney, who was a longtime commentator on the CBS program “60 Minutes.” In his weekly broadcasts, Andy shared everyday observations about people and life, delivered with his trademark curmudgeonly style. But even though Andy was a blunt commentator, his observations were based on kindness and caring.

Here are three of his excellent nuggets of wisdom, along with a nudge for how to use the wisdom in your everyday life.

“I’ve learned: That just one person saying to me, ‘You’ve made my day!’ Makes my day.”

  • Idea: make a list of friends you haven’t seen in a while. Each day for a week, send a text to someone on that list. Keep it simple, but heartfelt: “Thinking of you. How are you today?”

“I’ve learned: That being kind is more important than being right.”

“I’ve learned: That I can always pray for someone when I don’t have the strength to help him in any other way.”

I hope that you will find some inspiration in one of Andy’s wisdom nuggets. Perhaps you can pick one and “live it” today” as you go about your daily routine.
