I am longing for something beautiful, meaningful and joyous to happen this Advent/Christmas season. Maybe you are too!
David Brooks said recently, “People’s highest joy is helping their neighbor make it through the day.” Jesus said the same thing when he said, “Love your neighbor,” and then in the story of the Good Samaritan, he defined neighbor as anyone who is suffering.
So, I believe one way to find beauty and joy this Christmas is to focus some of our attention outward to those who are sad, lonely or grieving. If you think a moment, I think that you would be able to name at least 5 people who are suffering? Will you include those five individuals in your Advent and Christmas plans?
When you care for the least of these you care for me. Matthew 25:40
Often we ignore or avoid these individuals because we do not know what to say or do; so, we do nothing. That is why we at Wisdom of the Wounded have created “25 + Ways to Care Well This Christmas.” We invite you each day, December 1-25, to review a new practical way to care and then DO IT. I believe that we will discover some of the beauty, the meaning and the joy of Christmas!
