Do not fear.  Do not worry.

When my friend, Pat, was struggling with cancer, she ask me to post signs of her favorite Bible verses throughout her home.  Then as she went from one room to another, she saw God’s promises and was comforted.

Isaiah 41:13 was one of those verses.  It says, “I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”

God says, “Trust Me.”

So, whenever you start to feel afraid, remember that God is holding you by your hand.  Eugene Peterson in The Message restates God’s promise this way, “Don’t panic.  I’m with you.  There’s no need to fear for I’m your God.  I’ll give you strength.  I’ll help you.  I’ll hold you steady; (I’ll) keep a firm grip on you.”

(Play Chorus 2 of song:  “Lord Jesus Take My Hand.” Sung by Anne Murray)

Take my hand Lord Jesus take my hand Take my hand Lord Jesus take my hand There’s a race to be run There’s a victory to be won Every hour give me power to go free.
