“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them.  Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?”  Luke 15:4 NIV

Heather said, “We had been very active in our church with regular attendance at worship.  I also worked for months and months in the nursery.  Then I had a serious illness which kept my family and me from involvement.  We were gone for six weeks, and not one person called, visited or wrote us a note.  We never went back to that church.”

Statistics show that often when individuals leave the church for negative reasons, they never go back to that church or to any church.

This Sunday when you are sitting in your sanctuary, look around and see who is missing.  Who haven’t you seen in a while?   Then, care enough to write a note or to make a phone call.  You could also mention the missing persons to your pastor so he or she can also make a contact. Your pastor may know some information which may be helpful to you when you contact the person.

Not enough can be said about the importance of Christians and congregations caring about and for those in their midst who may be suffering.

Who is missing?  Care enough to find them.
