Charlie Brown asks Lucy, “Do pretty girls know that they are pretty?” Lucy answers, “Only if someone tells them.”
How do people know that they are okay? That they are doing a good job. That they are important to you?
How will they know? Only if you tell them.
For example, how does your pastor know that he or she is doing a good job? How will they know that they are important in your life? Lucy would say, “How will they know? Only if you tell them.”
We need to find ways to reassure, support and remind our pastors that they are valued, liked and have made a difference in our lives.
Do I thank my pastors often? Not often enough. I am working on it, and I hope you will too.
It would be so meaningful if after the worship service you would take the time to say, “That was a good message.” But don’t stop there, tell him or her why it was meaningful or good to you. For example, tell your pastor:
- What message or idea, story or illustration you especially valued.
- How the message touched your life.
- What you will do or think about as a result of the message.
Do your pastors know that you like, value and appreciate them? How will they know unless you tell them?
