The news networks definitely keep us informed about all the bad news people and what they are doing; so, sometimes we need to remember that there are also  a lot of good news people out there too.  We just do not hear about them as often.  Today I heard about a good news person. His name is Robby Dillmore, and every Thursday he visits a local nursing home and shares a devotion and some humor with the residents.  He actually looks forward to this time each week.

It is so true that when you “give” to others you also “get” in return.  Luke 6:38:  Give, and it will be given to you.  A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.  For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”  Luke 6:38

The residents greet Robby’s arrival with enthusiasm and start spreading the news, “The Man with the Papers” is here.!”  Robby knows that the residents love it when you give them something to hold onto after you leave.  Robby says, “Thus I began writing down jokes and cute stories.  So when I visit, I started my devotion with the jokes and then give a copy to each person.    To say the sheets of jokes were a big hit would be an understatement.  The residents collect these papers and even request copies for their nieces or grandkids.”

So Robby not only brings himself and shares a devotion, but he also gives them the gift of humor—which they can share with others. He leaves them with something they can share.  What a blessing!

So if you also want to give the gift of humor to those who are in a nursing home or hospital, go to: Kingdom Pursuits/ Robbie’s Third Grade Humor and you will find hundreds of jokes which will make you smile and will make others smile.

Here is a sample:  You know you’re getting “Marvelously Mature” when:

  1. You and your teeth don’t sleep together.
  2. Your back goes out but you stay home.
  3. At the breakfast table you hear snap, crackle, pop and you’re not eating cereal.
  4. Your back goes out but you stay home.
  5. It takes two tries to get up from the couch.
  6. When your idea of a night out is sitting on the patio.
  7. When happy hour is a nap.
  8. When you’re on vacation and your energy runs out before your money does.
  9. It takes longer to rest than it did to get tired.
  10. It takes twice as long – to look half as good.
  11. You wonder how you could be over the hill when you don’t even remember being on top of it.

Robby has hundreds of jokes on: Kingdom Pursuits/Robby’s 3rd Grade Humor.’ And he says: “Please, please copy and paste at will and go make someone laugh!”

Thanks Robbie for being a good news person every Thursday.
