Do you have the “blahs”? Maybe it’s the winter blahs, or for some other reason you’re feeling kind of “blah-by.” (I think that’s a word?!) If this is how you’re feeling, I came across a good idea by Christine on the radio program 1A.

Christine says she bought 100 postcards and wrote one card a day to a friend, family member, colleague or somebody in her church. She would include a brief message of encouragement. She would write about what she loved or appreciated about the person and then send the card out.

What a great idea! I decided to try this too, so I bought my cards. (There are some really fun and inexpensive cards online.) And I have been sending one card a day. Each day I write to one person, and you know, it’s really easy because you only have a little square to write in, so you don’t have to write a long letter, just a few sentences. And yet, it lights up someone’s day. It’s so nice to go to the mailbox and receive a personalized note. It’s a rare and wonderful gift!

In case you’re saying, “Ha! One more thing to do.” Think of it instead as you get a chance to light up your life, make you feel better, and also be a gift to someone else when you brighten their day.

You don’t have to have the goal of 100 postcards to use this idea. Start with 20 and see how you feel about it. So, give it a try.

God bless.
