If you saw a person injured alongside the road, would you stop and care?
Recently, I was walking in a 60 mile breast cancer walk and as I neared the end of the walk, I was so tired and my feet were so tired. Then I came alongside a walker who was barely moving and each step was pure agony.
I asked, “How are you doing?”
She said, “Not very good.”
I said, “Do you need water or a power bar?”
She said, “No.” Then she added, “Where are the shuttles when you need them?”
Now I should have stayed with her, encouraged her to sit down and then watched for a shuttle. But I didn’t. My agenda took over. I wanted to get this walk over, have a shower, rub my sore feet and go to bed. I, like that priest and that Levite in “The Good Samaritan,” passed right on by. I am so sorry that I chose “Me” over my wounded Neighbor. Would you stop?
