We are surrounded by people who need our care. The problem is too often our hearts say “go” but our heads say “no” and we procrastinate.

I procrastinate. Do you?

Too often I follow the words of Mark Twain who said, “Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.”

When I put off doing what I know I should do—like visit a sick neighbor, or call a lonely cousin, or respond to important emails—it becomes easier and easier to procrastinate some more. At some point it is too late to respond because the need has passed or now it’s too embarrassing to respond.

Are you with me? Do you do this?

The remedy for procrastination is to do it right now. Or, set a timer for a definite time today, and then just do it. Write that note. Make that phone call. Do whatever you have been putting off until tomorrow.

Ok!  I am setting my timer for 3 o’clock, and at that time, I will call my lonely relative. What will you do today?

“Someday” is not a day of the week. So do it today.
