WISDOM
The Gift of Time
Play

06/13/2016

When I asked some dads whose children are also adults, “What would be a really appreciated Father’s Day gift?  Their answer was time.  We want our kids and grandkids to spend time with us.  Visit us often.  Call us often.  Invite us to lunch or dinner.  Invite us to a game, a concert, a play whatever you enjoy doing.

Larry George says that he looks forward every Father’s Day to when his daughters and his grandchildren all call and talk to him on the phone.  Larry said, “Sometimes we are going to see them in a few hours, but that doesn’t matter I still like those one-on-on phone calls.”

Another idea is remembering some of your dad’s hobbies or activities which he enjoys, then offer to join him on a bike ride, or on a back-pacing trip, or fly fishing adventure or whatever activity he likes. Does your dad have a bucket-list?  Can you help him make one of his wishes come true?  Doesn’t that sound fun!

So consider giving your dad a gift which involves you spending time with him.
