Think BELL to Care Well

by Other Categories0 comments

Want to know a quick way to remember what to say or do when a friend is hurting?

Here’s my answer: think BELL.

B is for be there. Show up for them, that’s so important.

E is for encourage. Encourage the person to share their story and their struggles and what’s bothering them.

L is for listen, that’s one of the greatest gifts. We are tempted to tell our own story or try to fix it, but instead just listen to them.

L is for love—continue to find ways to show that you love and care for them.

So, when your friend has cancer or your co-worker is going through a divorce . . . Or maybe your neighbor is grieving, and you don’t know what to say. . .

Think BELL to care well.
