Do not fear.  Do not worry.

When my friend, Pat, was struggling with cancer, she asked me to post signs of her favorite Bible verses throughout her home.  Then as she went from one room to another, she saw God’s promises and was comforted.

Isaiah 41:13 was one of those verses.  It says, “I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”

God says, “Trust Me.”

God says, “Whenever you start to feel afraid, remember that I am holding you by your right hand.” Eugene Peterson in The Message restates God’s promise this way, “Don’t panic.  I’m with you.  There’s no need to fear for I’m your God.  I’ll give you strength.  I’ll help you.  I’ll hold you steady; (I’ll) keep a firm grip on you.”

Anne Murray affirms God’s promise in her song, “Lord Jesus Take My Hand.”  Listen to it here.

I especially like the 2nd chorus:

Take my hand Lord Jesus take my hand
Take my hand Lord Jesus take my hand
There’s a race to be run
There’s a victory to be won
Every hour give me power to go free.
