Discover the Special Abilities Which God Has Given You

by Caregiving Basics0 comments

God has given us the gift of one or more special abilities, which are to be used for the purpose of unifying the body of Christ and for the growth of God’s Kingdom. These special abilities are called spiritual gifts.

Using our spiritual gifts when we are caring for someone who is suffering, makes caring easier, more effective and more enjoyable.

Examples:

  • If you have the gift of craftmanship, you could make a bird feeder or other item or help with fixing  things around the home of the suffering person
  • If you have the gift of administration, you could organize a schedule for meals and transportation.
  • If you have the gift of writing, perhaps you could help the patient write their life story (See pages 34-37 in The Compassionate Congregation.)

Like other presents, it is impossible to fully appreciate and make use of our spiritual gifts until they have been opened.
