What was one of the most meaningful gifts you have received at Christmas?

When I reflect on special gifts received, one that immediately comes to my mind didn’t cost money or require hours of shopping. Yet this gift continues to lift my spirits whenever I think about it.  It energizes me when I am feeling low even though I received it years ago.

It’s called a “Tree of Appreciation.” This gift consists of a cut-out of a Christmas tree, which is pasted to a page of snowflakes. So far, this may not sound too exciting, but here is the extra special part: The givers of the gift, four friends of mine, filled the Christmas tree by naming things that they valued about me.  “Wow!” I thought as I opened the gift. Their comments first surprised and then humbled me.

Whenever I read my Tree of Appreciation, their words make me smile and experience the glow of joy in my heart. Thank you Jennifer, Sherri, Wendy and Jana.  I’ve included a photo of my Tree of Appreciation below to inspire you to create your own version for a valued friend or family member.

So consider giving this simple, yet heartfelt offering to someone you value.  It just may become one of their most treasured gifts.
