Birthdays Don’t Cause Unsafe Driving

by Aging & Elderly, Wisdom, Wisdom Podcasts0 comments

My dad turns 89 soon and I think he ought to quit driving.  Where do I start?

Birthdays don’t cause unsafe driving.  Health conditions do.  Before you  talk to your dad about your concerns, observe his driving and look for signs that it’s no longer safe.  Ask your dad’s doctor whether medical conditions could affect his vision, memory or reaction time.

AARP’s free online seminar, We Need to Talk, will help you assess your dad’s (or moms) skills and has suggestions to get the conversation started.
