My Empty Dining Room Table

“What characteristics of your wife do you miss the most?”
That was the question I asked Bob whose wife of 47 years had died thirteen months earlier.

Immediately he said, “Ruth had the gift of hospitality.  So our dining room table was often filled with friends and family, with laughter, stories and good food. Now my dining room table is empty and this makes me feel sad.  So, I made a goal that this year I will learn to cook and will invite friends and family for lunch or dinner.  That is a challenge, but I have a friend who is a chef and would be willing to teach me some basics of food preparation. Then once again there will be friends, laughter and good conversations around our dining room table.”

Are you lonely?  Consider Bob’s idea of inviting friends or family or neighbors or lonely people in your church or work place for lunch or dinner.   For some easy to prepare dinners, visit: takethemameal.com or use the following recipes!
