A reader wrote to me, “Instead of lecturing my husband and me to “get out of the house and do something fun” after I had a miscarriage, some friends sent us dated coupons for a dinner at our favorite restaurant along with movie gift cards.  Those gifts helped get us out of the house and take a break from suffering.”

Gifts Cards are wonderful ways to get people “out-and-about.”  They could be gift cards for movies, dinners, season tickets for plays or sporting events, their favorite activity like bowling or other special events in your area.

Also by giving tickets in advance to a play, symphony or sporting event, you give the person something to look forward to, something to anticipate.

Depending on the situation, you might include extra gift cards so that the person or persons could invite friends to share the “out-and-about” event.
