A God Nudge Story by Karen

Do you believe in God Nudges?  What is a God Nudge?  I learned from a pastor a long time ago, if someone comes into your mind—especially someone who you do not see or talk to on a regular basis.  Pay attention!  It may be God nudging to contact that person.

An example of a God Nudge in my life happened a year ago.  I woke up at 5am, and my cousin, Janet, flashed onto the screen of my mind.  I usually see Janet once a year, and other than that we do not see or talk with each other.  So there she was?  I wondered why?  Then I remembered about God Nudges.  Perhaps God wanted to use me to meet a need in Janet’s life.

So I emailed her and told her about God Nudges and that she had been suddenly in my thoughts.  I said, “So what is happening in your life?  How are you?”  I sent the email at 12:02 and here is Janet’s reply ten minutes later:

Hi Karen,

You asked…and it sounds like it might be from God…so I have to tell you!  It appears that I am having some anxiety issues.  I keep thinking I will go to the doctor, but that always starts tests that I don’t have time for tests.  And time is the issue.

While I love my job, it is very demanding.  I have been in my position nearly 14 years.  The needs go beyond the children…it’s their parents, their grandparents and sometimes their out-of-state relatives.  There is no beginning and no end in this ministry.  And, of course, there are many changes within my own job requirements.  The new technology manages to challenge me on a regular basis!  Okay, it sounds like I’m almost 71 years old, but I hate using age as an excuse.

I have been in the middle of three near-suicides since December.  I’ve had a middle school boy here once or twice a week because of a divorce situation.  I deal with a drunken neighbor on a regular basis.  I just lost a good friend in the church—sudden death.  And the sewer backed up in the basement creating a need for an over-haul.

I am such a complainer.  There is little time to rest.  And I haven’t told anyone else, so you’re it!

Love, Janet

Did this woman need someone to talk to?  Yes!  Thank you God, for the nudge.
